About Mnemosyne

Why Mnemosyne?

It's a mouthful [nee-mos'-a-nee], but we chose the name because in Greek mythology, Mnemosyne is the personification of memory and the mother of the nine Muses. We couldn't think of a better woman, or word for that matter, to describe our focus on women's memoirs.

Mnemosyne's daughters, by the way, are: Urania (astronomy), Thalia (comedy), Terpsichore (dance), Clio (history), Erato (lyrics and love poetry), Euterpe (music), Calliope (poetry, epic), Polyhymnia (poetry, sacred), and Melpomene (tragedy).
