Sisterhood in spirit -- 1000 years ago, Lady Murasaki published Tale of the Genji, a thinly disguised memoir of her life in the Japanese court. Fast forward to the 20th century. Virginia Woolf set the modern memoir free in a series of works beginning with the "shocking and revealing" 22 Hyde Park Gate.

Sisterhood in hand -- a memoir is a labor of love that only one person can undertake. She (you, I) will sometimes say, "This is too hard; I can't do it." But women are no strangers to hard projects. As Ginger Rogers sang in Swing Time, we just pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and start all over again. Often with a little help from our friends.
